Manners books. They sound so dull, but they can be so much fun! As a child, my favorite was The Thingumajig Book of Manners, with its gross antiheroes. For the past few years, my daughters and I have loved Do Unto Otters by Laurie Keller, which is terribly clever and very fun to read aloud.

We have a new favorite. This one had us laughing so hard that Mr. B came in to check on us!


You may think cakes are sweet, but this little cake? This cake is rude.

Poor little marshmallow.


This cake never says please or thank you, never listens, doesn't wait its turn on the playground, and calls other sweets names.


Then suddenly, the book switches gears. Along comes a...

CYCLOPS!



Oooo, what do giant Cyclopses love?
