The Princess and the Pea (Tip-Top Elf Book), illustrated by Anne Sellers Leaf. Rand McNally & Company, 1965. Based on the tale by Hans Christian Andersen. |
I had a pile of books at my grandmother's house when I was very little. Most of them came from garage sales and estate sales. This is one of them. I never cared much for the story of "The Princess and the Pea," but I always loved these illustrations.
Oh I love the story and these illustrations are beautiful! You have fantastic finds in garage sales! I don't often stumble upon good books like that!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma would have found this one. I remember reading it with her when I was very, very little. But as you can see, it was only 10 cents! :o)
DeleteWhat a wonderful treasure! I rarely see anything good at garage sales these days.
ReplyDeleteI have a nice collection of Elf, Junior Elf, and Whitmans, but most came from a big lot I bought on eBay. This one was my grandmother's find, years ago. She probably found it in the late '70s/early '80s. :o)
DeleteToo cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the princess, but I think the little queen is my favorite.
DeleteOh my gosh. I had this book when I was a little girl! Love the colorful mattresses!
ReplyDeleteOh, cool! I love the colors in this book period. So happy!
DeleteOh I adore this! And it looks so familiar. I wonder if I had this when I was little?? So so cute. Oh I think I know why it looks familiar -- doesn't it remind you a bit of Rankin-Bass characters??
ReplyDeleteI can see that! It seems to be one of the more popular Tip-Top Elfs. The pictures just make me smile.
DeleteAnother awesome vintage find by Danzel! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOr by my grandma. ;o) I love it, too.
