|Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, illustrated by Daniel Salmieri. Dial Books for Young Readers, 2012.|
This one is going on our wishlist immediately.
It had us hooked from the first page. Look at the kid's awesome dragon toys and pictures! And that bed.
The narrator instructs this dragon-loving child on how to attract dragons. The answer? Tacos. Lots of tacos. But nothing spicy.
We see lots of different dragons, and there is a dragon taco party!
I don't want to give away the ending, so we'll just leave it there.
I asked the girls to help me review the book. Big Sis said, "I liked it, but it made me hungry! Hungry for tacoooooos." Little Sis said, "I do like spicy salsa, but not with beans." I don't know what she's talking about. She's like that sometimes.
I say, "This is a fabulous read-aloud book. It has a structure that uses repetition, which helps engage kids, but it's a wholly original book. It had all three of us giggling at bedtime. In fact, my only complaint about the book is that we read it at the wrong time of day. It is too funny for a bedtime book."
