Weekend Reading

We went to the library yesterday.

I love Library Day.

Notice some of the wonderful blog-recommended reading we chose...  Thanks, book-blogging friends!

(Meanwhile, Mom will keep devouring her old ARC copy of The Night Circus.  Hooray for grown-up reads, too!)

P.S.  Off-subject, but as an Alice fan - especially after yesterday's post - I know I'll be playing voyeur this weekend, seeing what all the fabulous artist types post as part of this year's Mad Tea Party, hosted by the gorgeous blog "A Fanciful Twist."  Eye candy galore!

  1. I have started reading The Night Circus too! Loving it so far!!

    1. I just finished it this afternoon. It's wonderful!!! You'll have to let me know what you think.

I just started reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, another advanced readers copy, only this one is 8 years old. Better late than never...

    2. Have you read my Night Circus post? Cough, you should! And then tell me what you think. I did a visual ode to the Night Circus.

I LOVED THAT BOOK SO MUCH!!!! I'm so glad you liked it!!

You will ADORE Jonathan Strange....that book is amazing -- it took me months to read it b/c I would just read one chapter a day when Julia was a tiny baby.

    3. I've checked out your Night Circus Pinterest board! Because... um... I made my own.

I started Jonathan Strange back in 2004, before the hardcover came out. (Mine is a paperback galley copy.) I had just finished The Crimson Petal & the White, which I LOVED. I loved it so much, in fact, that I was suffering from a "book hangover," and it was very difficult to get into Victorian magicians. I was too wrapped up in Victorian whores. ;o)

    4. Okay, I found your Night Circus post! And yup, that's how it feels when you are done reading it.

Summit Entertainment is doing the movie. Oh please give it a bigger budget than they gave to those Twilight movies...

    5. HA HA HA still laughing about the Victorian whores comment, priceless! I haven't read that one, thanks for reminding me about it, I've been meaning to for ages....and yeah Summit better not screw up that movie -- they've been acquired by Lion's Gate films and I like Lion's Gate, they put out good stuff....they need to not skimp on the budget and really nail the casting. SUCH high hopes for it!

    6. It's my favorite grown-up book. VERY grown-up. VERY. I love it, love it, love it.

I read that Lions Gate and Summit were merging, which gives me similar hopes. It has to have a high effects budget, or it won't work.

  2. oh my goodness, that Fanciful Twist blog has the most amazing pictures!!!

Comments are welcome! I'm a shy blog commenter, too, but I do love to read what people have to say. All I ask is, please be kind, to me and to each other.
