Friday Evening

It's Friday evening.  We've been cleaning and prepping the house for tomorrow's Belated Fairy Day Party, but I'm trying to reschedule the party for Sunday.  We had rain today, and we're supposed to have rain and storms, on and off, all day tomorrow.  It wouldn't be much of a fairy party if everyone had to cram into our little house, no fairy playhouse, no bubbles, no mud pie kitchen...

I don't have a big reading round-up for you right now.  I was reading something for a book club I was recently asked to join, but my summer cough got the best of me last night.  I did read Ella Enchanted, which I enjoyed very much.  We watched the movie as a family last week, and while it was goofy fun, I'm sure I would have hated it had I read the book first.  This photo is only a tiny sliver of our current library haul.  We read A Piece of Cake by LeUyen Pham, which I highly recommend for the younger set, and Michael Hague's Magical World of Unicorns is gorgeous.  Big Sis and I have been working our way through D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths in the mornings.  We're all still reading Pippi in the South Seas at bedtime, and Little Sis is still working on Catwings with me.  I will probably start Under the Egg tonight, since it's due back soon.

I hope the weather isn't dampening your weekend plans!  It's too bad we decided to do something outdoor-specific, because the rain sure makes reading all the more inviting.

Merry Weekend!  Happy Reading!

  1. hey, a stack of books works just as nicely!!!! really hope your fairy party is lovely and swell and non rainy! I also just got a massive library haul -- a ton of cookbooks!! 2 are repeats, and one I managed to hold onto and renew for MONTHS, so I think I need to just buy the silly thing. Want to see all that I got? Sure you do! I'll be a copy-er and do a stack picture as well. :) And speaking of libraries....off I go to place a hold for the Hague unicorn book!!! xoxoxoxo

    1. There are a few cookbooks I've wanted to check out lately, but our library system doesn't have them. At least, not yet. But yes, I want to see your stack! xoxoxo

  2. Hope your fairy party is a total delight. I love the worn and tattered edges of these books in the picture. I know they have been loved.

    1. Our party was a sweet two or so hour affair, with lots of splashing in the pool. It was so muggy and hot! UGH. :) I love the look of library books, too, especially the battered ones.

  3. I don't know how you can read AND blog when you are sick. I sure hope you recover quickly and feel better soon. I went to the Library on Friday and saw Ella Enchanted on the shelf! I regret not getting it!

    1. I still it's a nasty sinus/allergy thing, but it gets worse with the weather, which keeps moving in and out. So gross. It's worst at night, though. It's a cute book! Much better than the movie. :)

Comments are welcome! I'm a shy blog commenter, too, but I do love to read what people have to say. All I ask is, please be kind, to me and to each other.
