A Spot of Tea

It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the girls are out of school.  I put some library books on hold for the occasion, but I wasn't notified that they had arrived until closing time last night.  Of course, the library is closed today, too.  We will read our MLK books tomorrow instead.

Today, the girls had a little tea party.  Mr. B bought a set of four china cups and saucers at a garage sale yesterday.  He cut out little cheese and butter sandwiches, and made a fruity herbal tea.

As you can see, they put on pretty dresses, and conversed politely.  Little Sis informed Big Sis that, no, she doesn't like to stick her pinky out as she sips, thank you very much.

We had no flowers for this bud vase, so Big Sis improvised with some tissue paper.  Clever girl.

Ah, peace.

    1. I love cucumber sandwiches! We didn't have any cucumber, though. Cheese and butter worked. My husband would love it if we had a proper tea set for a proper tea. It's the Anglophile in him...

  3. Your girls are adorable and so well-mannered! Those wee sandwiches are so cute! You got a good deal with those pretty cups and saucers. I rarely find nice stuff like that in garage sale! I have to teach my boy to sit properly for dinner and he still slouches, talks with his mouth full and basically takes forever to finish eating. Sigh. I wonder how my little girl will be LOL

    1. My grandmother saw these pictures and said my youngest looked very unhappy. I had to explain that she was mad I had the camera out. ;) The garage sale find was lucky! $1 for the whole set! I'm glad he grabbed them. Mine aren't always that well-behaved, especially my youngest, but they were playing at being "fancy." ;)

Comments are welcome! I'm a shy blog commenter, too, but I do love to read what people have to say. All I ask is, please be kind, to me and to each other.
