Eight

That's my eight-year-old, taken a few days ago.  When she was still seven.  Today, she is eight.  She bought herself an ice cream sandwich, and because she's so sweet, she bought her little sister a treat, too.

Tomorrow, we will head to one of our favorite parks with this beautiful parcel.

When someone asks her what she wants for her birthday, she shrugs and thinks and says, "Hello Kitty stuff.  Or Judy Moody books."

She asked Mom and Dad for a weekend trip to Kansas City.  Daddy will probably have to work, but I'm planning a Renaissance Festival trip for early October!

Happy Birthday to my firstborn.  And a very Merry Weekend to the rest of you!  Happy Reading!

  1. Happy Birthday to your sweetie! I have to admit I got a little choked up looking at that photo of her walking to the ice cream truck. Watching my own children grow up has been bittersweet. I love seeing them grow into amazing young people – they make me so incredibly proud – but miss those sweet baby years. Thank goodness I'm still able to enjoy the baby years one more time! xoxo

    1. I'm a very sentimental mama, too. My baby years are over, although I have baby nieces to watch grow now. I let the girls sleep in my room the other night. Mr. B was on an overnight train, and with my cough, I was finding it easier to sleep on the couch. I wandered in to grab my pillow, and looked at Big Sis asleep. In her sleep, she still looks like her baby self, just bigger. I had a teary mama moment. She's such an awesome big girl and I'm proud of the person she's becoming, but yeah, I miss my snuggly baby sometimes, too. xoxoxo

    1. She's been good about sharing her new toys with her sister today. They definitely have their less-than-stellar moments, but thank goodness, they're few and far between. Thank you!!!

  4. Happy birthday sweet girl!
I 've been following all of your book adventures, but being trapped in a world of rare and slow internet all summer I've been unable to post any comments -or any blog posts of my own :O) But hopefully I'll be back soon!
8 is a great age. Hope she's always healthy and happy :)

    1. No Judy Moody, but sooooooo much Hello Kitty! Soooooooooo much. And some Beverly Cleary books. You certainly don't need to send her anything, darling! Her Blythe made her quite happy! :o)

Comments are welcome! I'm a shy blog commenter, too, but I do love to read what people have to say. All I ask is, please be kind, to me and to each other.
