Awesome Book Alert: Dragons Love Tacos

I have been meaning to check this book out for a while.  I finally picked it up from the library yesterday.

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, illustrated by Daniel Salmieri.  Dial Books for Young Readers, 2012.

This one is going on our wishlist immediately.

It had us hooked from the first page.  Look at the kid's awesome dragon toys and pictures!  And that bed.

The narrator instructs this dragon-loving child on how to attract dragons.  The answer?  Tacos.  Lots of tacos.  But nothing spicy.

We see lots of different dragons, and there is a dragon taco party!

I don't want to give away the ending, so we'll just leave it there.

I asked the girls to help me review the book.  Big Sis said, "I liked it, but it made me hungry!  Hungry for tacoooooos."  Little Sis said, "I do like spicy salsa, but not with beans."  I don't know what she's talking about.  She's like that sometimes.

I say, "This is a fabulous read-aloud book.  It has a structure that uses repetition, which helps engage kids, but it's a wholly original book.  It had all three of us giggling at bedtime.  In fact, my only complaint about the book is that we read it at the wrong time of day.  It is too funny for a bedtime book."

  3. I miss working at a bookstore, but not necessarily that one. ;o) I loved the storytimes and discount and getting to see what's out first. I want to work with books again someday, when both girls are in school full time. We'll see. ;o)

  4. I am out of the loop! Bibs had a birthday yesterday- I just got off of the internet for a day or two. Anyway- I JUST SAW THIS BOOK last weekend on amazon when browsing books and wanted to see it in person right away. So I requested a review copy from the publisher... I have yet to hear back, but now I want it even more! If they don't send it I'll get a copy from the library for sure. SO COOL! Thanks for the preview.

Comments are welcome! I'm a shy blog commenter, too, but I do love to read what people have to say. All I ask is, please be kind, to me and to each other.
